One of the most noticeable, and frustrating, signs of ageing is lines on the neck. So-called 'necklace lines' can appear at any age and can be incredibly difficult to remove. While it may not be entirely possible to remove lines on the neck, you can take steps to minimise the appearance of such lines.

Exfoliate to Minimise Neck Lines

Gentle exfoliation can be incredibly effective at reducing the appearance of lines on the neck. An AHA, BHA, or enzyme exfoliator essentially resurfaces the skin, which helps minimise the appearance of lines. Both acids and enzymes remove dead skin without rubbing, which helps reduce the likelihood of more lines forming.
Using an effective but gentle exfoliator also helps the other products you use, such as serums and hydrators, penetrate the skin and do their job better. Great exfoliators to try on the neck area include:

How to Treat and Moisturise Lines on the Neck

Targeted treatments for the neck are important, because serums can penetrate more deeply than moisturisers can. But it's particularly important to follow up your treatment with a moisturiser, as hydration helps firm and plump the skin, minimising the appearance of lines.

There are a few key ingredients to look for in your treatments and moisturisers:
•Peptides help support skin's natural collagen and elastin to reduce and prevent lines.
•Antioxidants repair and help protect against free radicals in the future.
•Retinol helps to increase the rate of skin cell turnover, which is tremendous for anti-ageing

Some great examples of treatments for neck lines are:

Sun Protection: Your Best Move for Almost Any Skin Concern

SPF is incredibly important in preventing further signs of ageing, as UVA rays are detrimental to the collagen and elastin in the skin. If you don't use a sunscreen regularly, your investment in skincare products is essentially nullified. You might as well vacuum out your wallet.
If you're going to be in the sun at all, even going from the house to the car, you want an SPF at or above 30 for full protection. Check out our sunscreen selection to find the right one for you!

Keep Your Neck Youthful With Good Habits

Finally, you can try making a few lifestyle changes to prevent neck creases from forming or deepening. First, try to train yourself to sleep on your back. This helps reduce lines on your face and chest as well.
Second, be sure that your computer monitor is at eye level so you're not flexing the front of your neck all day long. Try to hold up your phone higher when texting too.
So, in short, there's no way to fully get rid of lines in the neck short of a visit to a dermatologist or a surgeon. However, you can minimise the appearance of neck lines and prevent them from worsening by exfoliating, treating, moisturising, and protecting your skin.
